Amine synergists are an intrinsic part of most radiation curable formulations that rely upon radical species to bring about polymerisation. They have two potential roles to play in the polymerisation process. One important role is as a co-initiator when used with ketones, usually aromatic ketones. The other very important role is as additives to ameliorate the effects of oxygen inhibition.
